Fall is upon us and Elm City Doulas would love to share our list of fun things for you and your family to do during this beautiful season in Fredericton.

Apple picking

Apple picking is such a fun activity for kids of all ages to partake in. We particularly love Everett Family Orchard which is located on Route 102, Island View (west of Fredericton)

We have so many reasons to love this apple orchard but a few reasons are:

wagons to haul the kids & the apples in; Who doesn’t love a wagon ride?

Horses! While at the orchard, head over to visit the horses. There will be apples available that you and the kids can feed them.

The variety! When you first arrive at the orchard, you will come to a board that will let you know what varieties are available that day; as some varieties are available earlier or later than others. This board will let you know where the different kinds of apples are located with a color coordinated ribbon and also let you know if they recommend this for eating or cooking.

The cost. At one dollar per pound, you can pick till your heart’s content.

 Bill Thrope Walking Bridge

When the leaves are starting to turn color, hit the beautiful trails in Fredericton and go for a family walk. This beautiful old train bridge turned walking bridge boasts beautiful views of the changing leaves as you walk across the wooden footpath crossing the Saint John River. The Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge is accessible on the North Side via “The Green,” found at the intersection of Gibson Street and Union Street. As well as on the South Side via the walking trail by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

 Kings Landing

Just on the outskirts of Fredericton, you will find Kings Landing. A unique living history museum that takes its guests back to the 1800’s. Here you will find over 70,00 artifacts along with costumed actors that take you from the American Revolution to the turn of the 20th century. With so much to do and see, this will for sure become a family favorite place to visit. Kings Landing is open from June 10th until October 9.

Beaverbrook Art Gallery

With exhibits changing every 3-6 months, there is always something new to see at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. In the fall of 2017, the gallery will be opening their pavilion. The highly anticipated expansion will give Beaverbrook Art Gallery an additional 14,000 square feet of space over 3 floors. This expansion is set to open to the public on the weekend of October 14th-15th 2017
